Halloween poems!

In 6th grade for Halloween we have been writing some original poems. They are all about witches, monsters, pumpkins and all kinds of strange beings so typical for this celebration. We have been doing nice poems about such a spooky topic, and we have been able to make some cute rhymes in English too.

Silvia's presentation

Silvia has recently joined the school as a Language Assistant, and she'll be with Primary groups practising and improving their speaking skills.  She has already started woking with some of the groups.
Here is Silvia's presentation, let's know more about her.

Hello everyone!
My name is Silvia Martin, and I'm from Chicago, Illinois. I will be in Barcelona for one year studying Spanish (Castellano) and a little bit of Catalan. I have some extended family living in Catalonia, and I am already in love with Barcelona and its culture. My favorite things to do are swim, camp, or travel. My favorite food is Chicago pizza or tacos because Chicago pizza is thicker and different from other kinds. If I could bring one thing from home to Barcelona it would be my tiny dog named Dobby (like the character from Harry Potter). But, right now he is with my family: my mom, dad, and younger brother Troy. Together we like to ski, hike, and watch basketball. Our favorite basketball team is the Bulls, and our favorite player is still Michael Jordan. In the future I want to be a bilingual speech therapist and help children produce sounds and communicate.

Language Assistants

This year we have two new Language Assistants, Victor and Silvia. They are both attending Primary and Batxillerat classes, helping our students to improve their  comprehension abilities, so that they can practise speaking and listening with them. Here is Victor's presentation.

"My full name is Victor Hugo Solano Ortega, I am 22 years old, I was born in Guadalajara, Jalisco, Mexico but I was raised in Los Angeles, California. My hobbies include reading, attending concerts or music festivals, sight seeing, and going to new and exotic restaurants around town.
I am currently finishing off my undergraduate education at the University of California, Santa Cruz where I study linguistics with an emphasis in Spanish. I am also enrolled at the Autonomous University of Barcelona for one semester where I am currently taking a class in Catalan with the hope to learn a third language and also taking two other classes that focus on interpretation, translation, and intercultural communication that I know can enrich my study abroad experience here in Barcelona.
The reason why I decided to do an internship here at Colegio San Josep Teresianas in Gràcia, was to gain some experience working at a school by teaching, being an English tutor, and to be able to learn more about the education system in Catalunya in comparison to the education system in the United States; as I hope to become a teacher myself someday."

2nd part of Speaking Corner in 5th grade

We have continued doing the activity called Speaking Corner, in order to improve our speaking skills, and all of us have prepared something to speak about. This time there has been a variety of topics, such as our favourite sports, family members as little brothers and cousins, our best friends, our lovely pets or nice collections which we have shown in the class. It has also been great to have different ideas to explain the topics and the presentations we have made for that, and you'll see it in the video. We have practised our English and we have shared our interests with our classmates.

We have enjoyed doing this activity and we hope you like the video now!

Speaking Corner in 5th grade!

These days in 5th grade we have also been doing the activity called Speaking Corner. It has been great to have the opportunity of having so many of us sharing our favourite sports and hobbies, talking about our relatives, or even about our favourite instruments and playing part of the songs in the class. We have prepared really hard what we wanted to talk about, and we have asked questions too!
We have enjoyed a lot!!!

Speaking Corner

These days in 6th grade we have started the activity called Speaking Corner. It consists of speaking about a free topic which we have to prepare at home and practise it in order to be able to explain it in the class. So far, we have been sharing lots of different topics, such as our families and friends, our pets, our favourite sports and objects, our favourite books or films, or even cities we have visited or would like to visit in the future. Then everyone is free to ask questions, and we have shown great interest on our classmates' presentations.

Here's the video of our activities!

Two English plays!

Last Friday we were invited to see two plays in English in the  CC la Sedeta: Snow White and Treasure Island.
In the morning 3rd and 4th grade went to to see Snow White. We could see the play of the classic tale, and we also had the chance to practise and repeat vocabulary during the play, and we learnt and remembered it. Some volunteers were chosen to help wilth some of the household duties too. It was really funny!!!

And then in the afternoon 5th and 6th grade went to see Treasure Island. It was great because some of us could also participate and there was a lot of interaction with the actors, acting with them in some parts of the play, and repeating vocabulary and sentences. The thing is that we had to help them find the treasure all around the island with some clues. We had a great time!!!

A menu for a restaurant!

These days in 5th and 6th grade we have been working on food vocabulary and we have planned to design a menu for a restaurant. We have given  a name to the restaurant, work on the different courses and drinks to write about, and given prices too. Many of them clearly specified FREE WIFI, and some of them even designed a different menu for children.
The menus were great !!!
